Well Friends, yesterday (31st Jan), I happened to visit the famous “Boi Mela 2009” held at Milan Mela Complex. It was great to be thr, atleast to one like me, who is re-visiting Boi Mela after 5 years.
Last time I visited this was in “Maidan”, and i feel that location is better to this current one. Though it was the fourth day of the fair, i didnt feel that much of crowd iether. Indeed it was a bit empty throughout the fair.
Hey, I also spotted the News Channel “TARA NEWS” !!
And this man, 5 Rs Per Book. I got one from him from my Sister’s son. I bet, he has the best amongst the cheapest collections of this Boi Mela 2009.
Inside Ananda Publishers. I grew up reading these books whilst at school.
One More News Channel Cameraman Spotted. Irony is, there was perhaps more news channel people, than normal people.
Now Inside Rupa Publishers. I spotted “Raksha Bharadia” on Launch of her own latest Book “Roots and Wings“. She addressed the crowd very gently, and what i liked the most about her, is after her launch was over, she patiently listenned and answered to all the curious readers and fans who gathered around her.
At one end of the fair, you get this genuinly talented women, who paints your protrait in less than 30 mins, in front of you. At a price of 100RS (~ USD 2 $), it’s worth a collection.

Lastly, don’t leave the fair without checking these amazing paintings painted by some teen artists (mostly within an hour or two). These will cost you anything between Rs 300 to 500. I say what? these artists should be given a bigger platform than this to show their skill.
And lastly, a good news for people who hate too crowdy places. Kolkata Boi Mela 2009 is the place to go. See you there
