Firstly, Calzaghe wanted to fight Hopkins in 2001 but B-Hop wouldn’t sign to it. Hopkins wasn’t in his prime when he fought Calzaghe obviously, but he was still good enough to outclass the next best thing in American after he got beat by Calzaghe. He never ‘just’ beat RJJ, he pissed that fight, barring the first few rounds. He also clearly won against Kessler, anyone who says otherwise is speaking shite, it was a clear victory. Overrated my ass.

I like Ricky Hatton so its tough for me to say this but you’re right. I think Khan would probably stop Hatton, who in my opinion is a long way past his best. While Hatton was not elite his win against Kostya Tszyu was a superb result, yes Tszyu was past his prime but Hatton was still the underdog and he deserves a lot of credit for that performance. Sadly Hatton’s peak was very brief, as many people predicted, it was naive of him to think he could lead that lifestyle without any ill effects
what fight were you watching?, calzaghe clearly beat kessler, even kessler admitted that, it was a very good performance against a very tough and tricky opponent.
ChrissieH25, Joe Calzaghe is one of the most overrated boxers of all time. He waited until Roy Jones Jr and Bernard Hopkins were old men before fighting them and even then he did not ‘drop them’ like you claim he only just beat both of them on points. The only decent fighter Calzaghe took on in their prime was Mikkel Kessler and Calzaghe got the decision but even to this day the judges were wrong. Kessler was the one coming forward all the time with power punches, Calzaghe just kept holding.

surfermaverick, you are half correct and half wrong. khan definitely has a long way to go before he can beat the true elite – that is correct. but your comment about a khan vs hatton fight is wrong. i think that match is a waste of time because khan would EASILY beat hatton. thing is hatton is not (never has been) an elite fighter. good fighter yes but not elite. he would not last the distance against khan.

to all haters, Amir won the fight beautifully. Even Kotelnik admitted it. A win is a win. About the “glass chin issue” any body could be KOd with aperfect direct hit to the chin. Tons of champion fighter went down with a solid punch to the chin ,to name afew Hearns,Pacman,Foreman, leonard, Duran.
